BOATs latest

The process continues for the three applications (Bottom Lane, Bunns Lane and Trapps Lane) that are in the vanguard of the twenty or so in our area.

The level of objections that we and other interested groups lodged with the County Council has had an effect.  There will now be a Public Enquiry.  The date was originally set for April but due to both sides wanting to call witnesses it will have to be rescheduled.  Many thanks to everyone who wrote to object.  It is a long drawn out process and we need to keep the effort up.

Change to the Highway code

Section 53 remains unchanged and states that horses should not be ridden more than two abreast. The change that was mooted to prevent riding two abreast was not implemented.  Many thanks to all who signed the online petition objecting to such a change.

AGM 2008

The AGM will be held on 13th March 2008 at Chesham High School from 7.30p.m. In addition to the usual business there will be a very interesting talk by one of our eminent local physiotherapists; Sherry Scott.  Sherry has many years of practice to talk about. There will also be a selection of materials for sale from the Chiltern Society including   copies of their excellent maps.  There will be warm drinks and homemade cakes.

Do come along for an interesting evening.

2008 subscriptions

Subscriptions are now due and some membership forms are enclosed.  If you have friends who ride and aren’t members then please give them a chance to join !  We offer a free tabard to new members.

This news letter has been sent to current members and those members who were members in a prior year but didn’t rejoin this year.   Please do take the time to rejoin.  There isn’t much demand on our members time but the larger the membership the stronger our voice on behalf of horse riders in the area.

Events

There will be an Easter Egg ride on 22nd March which will be in the Pednor/Chartridge area and we will be running a route which will use bridleways and have access to some private pasture.  If you are interested in spending some time hunting Easter Eggs on horseback please contact Anna Streeter (01494 771736).

The Fun Jump Weekend will be on 19th/20th  April and will be held at Cricket Meadow on the Vale, Chesham by kind permission of Sue Bloss and David Magee.  The event will be very relaxed with the chance to mix and match a course from the various cross country jumps available.   Contact Chris Dutton (01494 785279) for further details
